What you need to know, at a glance:

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, some of the study plans have changed. The charitable groups funding the monthly cash gifts have agreed to extend the payments by another year. So instead of ending four months after your child’s third birthday (40 months of payments, total), they will end four months after your child’s fourth birthday (52 months of payments, total). As a reminder, you will continue to receive the monthly gift and can agree to this extension even if you decide not to participate in the research study.

Also, as you may remember from when you first enrolled in the study, we planned to meet together with you and your child at our local university office around their third birthday. However, for the safety and well-being of those in the study, we will not be able to do that until closer to your child’s fourth birthday.

We would still like to check-in around your child's third birthday to ask you questions by phone.

After that, we will stay in touch and invite you to visit our local university office around your child's fourth birthday. Child care and transportation will be provided.

One of the University of Michigan interviewers will reach out to you about these changes, too.

If you have any concerns or questions, we are here for you – email us at or call the 4MyBaby card hotline at (608) 291-7359.
